Kingdom Come: Deliverance tips: dog hunting and shared storage
Just a few tips and tricks on Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Things that I didn't know at first and I'm just now finding out.
1. Let your dog hunt while you gather herbs.
Once you've unlocked the Hunt perk in Houndmaster, you can set Mutt to hunt game while you run through the woods and harvest herbs. Right now I need belladonna because I'm making Saviour Schnapps. While I'm gathering it, I've got him hunting rabbits.
I needed 100 game meat for Johanka and 40 for something else. At first I thought I had to manually hunt all of that, but he keeps bringing rabbits back while I'm doing other things. The rabbits I've been getting have around 20 or 30 meat each, so it adds up quickly. It's a really useful way to collect game or meat for cooking while you're already out gathering.
2. Your personal storage chests are connected.
At Miller Peshek's house, where you stay near the start of the game, there's a chest downstairs between the two beds. That's your personal chest.
That chest shares its inventory with your other personal storage chests in owned or rented lodgings. This doesn't mean every chest in every miller's house belongs to you. Make sure you're using your personal storage chest.
3. “A few nights” at an inn means a permanent room.
When you rent a room at an inn, choosing the “a few nights” option instead of one night permanently unlocks that room. The personal chest in your rented room is connected to your other personal storage chests.
So if you put something in your chest at Peshek's, you can access it from the personal chest in one of your rented rooms. You don't have to keep riding all the way back to the mill.
What I do is leave one Saviour Schnapps in the chest I know is mine, since I'm making a bunch of them. Then, when I check another chest, I can look for that same stored inventory to make sure it's connected before I put anything else in it. It's a useful extra check so I don't accidentally use the wrong chest.
There are other tips I might drop later.
